Cass County has never been short on reasons to celebrate. What it was short on was somewhere to do it properly. For years, families around Royal Center, Logansport and Winamac drove an hour or more to find a hall large enough for a wedding reception, then drove home again at midnight to return borrowed tables. The Berkshire family knew that drive well, and eventually decided the simplest answer was to build the venue the area was missing.
Berkley Event Center was designed from the inside out around how events actually run rather than how they photograph. The hall is wide and column-free so no guest sits behind a post. The kitchen is a genuine commercial prep space, because the family knew that the best food at most Indiana receptions comes from a local caterer or an aunt with a proven recipe — not from a venue's fixed menu. The parking sits close to the doors because Indiana weather does not negotiate. Even the televisions, more than twenty of them, went in for a reason: slideshows at graduations, the game during a fundraiser, sponsor reels at a corporate banquet.
Today the calendar runs from spring proms and graduation parties through summer weddings and family reunions, into autumn corporate banquets and winter holiday parties. Guest counts range from forty-person rehearsal dinners to three hundred at a full reception, and the room adapts to each one. What has not changed is who you deal with: the same family that built the place still answers the phone, walks the tour and locks the doors at the end of the night.

Most venues in the region lock you into one caterer and a fixed bar package. We do the opposite. Use your family's recipes, a food truck, your favourite local caterer, or a full-service company — our commercial kitchen is yours to stage from.
One event at a time
We do not double-book the building. When you reserve a date, the hall, the lawn, the kitchen and the parking are yours for the whole block — no other party moving in behind a partition wall.
Honest, itemised pricing
A 25% deposit holds your date, a $250 refundable damage deposit covers the room, and the balance is due sixty days out. No surprise service percentages, no per-plate markups on food you brought yourself.
Flexible from 40 to 300
Movable rounds, long banquet tables, a dance floor that can grow or shrink, and drapes that shorten the room mean an intimate rehearsal dinner never feels lost inside a hall built for a wedding of three hundred.
Built for rural Indiana weather
Indoor ceremony backup is always part of your plan, not an emergency. We hold a covered layout in reserve for every outdoor booking so a storm front changes the view, not the schedule.
A hall that changes shape around your plan
The main hall seats up to three hundred guests on rounds with room left for a head table, a buffet line and a dance floor — and it divides comfortably for smaller gatherings so a group of sixty still feels held rather than rattling around. Ceremony chairs can face the lawn outside or set up indoors along the long wall, and both layouts stay drawn up so a change in the forecast is a fifteen-minute decision instead of a crisis.
Behind the scenes, the commercial kitchen gives caterers real counter space, refrigeration and warming capacity rather than a single microwave and a prayer. The built-in bar means you supply the beverages and we supply the service surface, ice and glass storage.

From first tour to last dance
Planning a large event should not feel like guesswork. Here is exactly what happens between the day you call us and the night you celebrate.
Tour and conversation
Walk the hall, the lawn and the kitchen with an owner. We talk guest counts, ceremony placement, catering plans and budget honestly before anyone signs anything.
Hold the date
A 25% deposit and a signed agreement take your date off the calendar. From that moment the building is exclusively yours for your event block.
Layout and vendor planning
We draft your floor plan — rounds, head table, bar, dance floor, buffet flow — and coordinate load-in times with your caterer, DJ, florist and rental company.
Final walkthrough
Roughly two weeks out we confirm counts, timeline, deliveries and the rain plan, then hand you a one-page run of show so everyone knows where to be.
Event day
Doors open early for setup, someone from our team is on site throughout, and we handle the room reset and trash so your family is not cleaning up at midnight.
